The Developer/Designer relationship.

The demand for Rich Internet Applications (RIA) in technologies such as Silverlight has made the role of the User eXperience (UX) designer far more prevalent. For some applications it may be possible to combine the roles of UX designer and developer. However, it is still important to architect applications so that UX, Styling, etc. can be modified without affecting the business logic or behaviour.

How does this affect me?

There are often many new challenges for developers and designers when working together on rich internet applications together for the first time. The two disciplines often find that a greater understanding of each others' roles and boundaries is required. New skills for working collaboratively need to be learned, along with new techniques for testing and effective prototyping if you are to deliver well crafted solutions that provide a compelling user experience.
